Campaign Resources

Forced marriage transcends many cultures, religions, class, gender and sexuality and can result in false imprisonment, kidnapping, threats of violence, blackmail, rape, assault, domestic violence and so called ‘honour’ based abuse.

Forced marriage destroys lives, transcends cultures and is a global issue that is not a problem specific to one country. In developing countries (excluding China) one in every three girls is married before reaching 18 years old. We hope that this section can help inform you and inspire you to join the global movement to eradicate forced marriage and honour based abuse. If you have any resources to share email emma@ourgirl.co.uk

Our Girl Film

Our Girl is a film that can be downloaded and used in many different contexts. As the rich diversity of the campaign activities reveal there are so many creative ways to spread the word in your communities, work, schools, networks and friendship groups. Film screenings work best if accompanied with debate, dialogue and discussion. Information from the Forced Marriage section of the website can enhance your screenings and ensure that people have as much information as possible to start spreading the word and programming their own events.
